SDCC 2016: This Wonder Woman Trailer is Awesome

As expected, DC unveiled plenty of footage and trailers for its upcoming movies at SDCC yesterday. With Suicide Squad arriving in theaters in just a couple of weeks, it was a prime time to get fans pumped about some of their biggest upcoming projects.

While the Justice League footage was pretty sweet, the trailer that had me bursting with excitement was this one for the Wonder Woman solo movie. Set to arrive next summer, this is arguably DC’s most important film in the next few years. Not only is the Amazonian Princess one of the most iconic female superheroes of all time, but the fact that it’s taken this long for her to have her own live-action movie is astounding. Yet from the looks of this trailer, it looks as though the wait will have been worth it. Despite her limited screen time in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot gave a great performance and left fans longing for more of Diana in action.

It’s also worth noting that even from the trailer, the WWI setting is both apparent and distinctive from the aesthetic of the previous two DCEU films. Plus the images of Themyscira are absolutely gorgeous. Not to mention the delightful banter between Diana and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) is spot-on, proving that DC has learned that you can have humor and drama in these movies. All in all, I’m stoked for director Patty Jenkins and the cast and crew to bring the famous DC heroine to the big screen in summer 2017, and I trust many other fans feel the same.
